Our Role

We’re the Fiji Nursing Council — the official body that looks after nursing standards across Fiji.

Established under the Nursing Decree 2011, our main purpose is simple but important:

“keep patients safe and make sure nursing in Fiji remains high-quality and trustworthy.”

What we actually do day-to-day includes:

  • Registering qualified nurses so only properly trained professionals can practice.

  • Issuing annual practicing licenses.

  • Clearly defining what nurses can and should do (our scope of practice).

  • Creating and upholding the code of conduct that guides ethical and professional behavior.

  • Keeping a close eye on nursing education to make sure training programs meet modern standards.

In short, we work behind the scenes so the public can have confidence in every nurse who cares for them.
